In view of the global pandemic, COVID-19, FSSAI has prescribed additional strictures for FBOs, over and above the regulations spelt out under Schedule IV of Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
These guidelines suggest compliance to higher hygiene standards which mainly involve maintenance of high levels of personal hygiene, strict social distancing at all times and more focus on cleaning and sanitation.
The guidelines require the food industry to reinforce higher personal hygiene measures and provide refresher training on food hygiene principles to eliminate or reduce the risk of common area surfaces, food processing area surfaces and food packaging materials becoming contaminated with the virus from food workers.
As an effective measure to maintain such standards, Hand Swab and Surface Swab Testing comes handy to check the effectiveness of sanitization and hygiene maintained or not.
The Periodical Hygiene Test is geared to test the personnel, premises and surfaces of the FBOs to ensure higher safety. This will majorly help in building consumer as they will be demanding proof of contamination free food in the precarious pandemic conditions. This will also ensure higher safety while delivery of food as well, as the delivery personnel will also be checked frequently through the Swab Test to ensure that the contagion does not spread through them or the packages.
The testing is relevant to all industries especially manufacturing units, Hotels and restaurant, Hospitals, Food processing industries, Corporates etc.
